
This is an 8 hour class, however it can be broken down into two days with advanced approval.You cannot worked as an armed security guard until you receive you license and the license must be on your person anytime you are working.If for any reason you wait more than 1 year, you will have to take the entire class over again. After successful completion of this class you have 1 year to submit your application to the State of Tennessee to get processed for your Security Guard License.

Your clothing will have gun powder residue also, refrain from touching your eyes until you have taken the necessary precaution.After you complete your class make sure you wash your hands with cold water to reduce the gun powder residue on your hands.You can arrange to have your instructor provide ammo for you if you are unsure of how to purchase it.


Orientation will be conducted at the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol's Firearm Permit Division located at 152 Watford Parkway Dr., Canton, MS 39046.Įach instructor applicant is required to pay $32 for a background check. Acceptable methods of payment are cash, credit cards, debit card, or cashier's check. Orientations are conducted on Fridays from 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm. The instructor applicant must complete the instructor’s application and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) forms.
